Hi everyone,

I’m Gareth — a mindfulness practitioner based in the East Midlands. I work with young people, and I’m reaching out because I’d love to explore whether what I offer might be a good fit for your community. I want to be honest about what mindfulness actually is — because it’s not what a lot of people think. I’m not offering relaxation sessions or a short-term break from difficulties. What I teach helps young people identify the unhelpful thoughts they’re paying attention to — the ones that feel real but have no basis in fact — and recognise and work with difficult emotions in the body. Over time, that creates more space to respond to whatever life throws at them, whether that’s a real situation or an imagined one.

I’m currently offering sessions using the SOMA Programme — a well-researched mindfulness curriculum designed for 12-21 year olds, with over 45 different activities grouped into 10 themes. It works well in groups, adapts easily to mixed ages, and can be delivered in person or online.

If any of this sounds like it could be useful for your group, I’d love to have a conversation.

Hi, I'm Gareth. I'm a former schoolteacher who burned out under that system. I was introduced to mindfulness, which has completely changed my life. It has helped me to be aware of what was happening while burning out and how to recognise unhelpful thinking patterns, and associated emotions.

I am now certified to teach mindfulness, which I have been doing for a few years. I also now have full access to teach two amazing mindfulness curriculums to children. One is for 7-11 year olds and the other is for 12+.

I would very much like to offer these to the Home Education community. I believe these practices could be incredibly helpful for our young people.
