Are you studying English language or literature for A Level, and wishing you would have more opportunities to do some creative writing? Do you want to read and discuss some of the best short stories and non-fiction essays with a small group of like-minded students? Are you keen to start writing creatively?
Come and join us every Tuesday evening for 90 minutes of inspiring close reading of some classic short stories, from Russian greats to modern masterpieces, and some of the best creative non-fiction, from Joan Didion to James Baldwin. We’ll be learning how to read texts closely, thinking about what makes a great sentence, and using stories and essays to inspire our own short work, be that life writing or fiction. We’ll be thinking about language choice, tenses, points of view and being sensitive to your reader, and you’ll learn how to workshop your writing in a friendly, supportive small group setting.
