Hi I’m Jo, the creator of Arts Instruct, providing dynamic and inspiring online art courses for children around the ages of 10-14, designed with home-educated learners in mind.
As an experienced art teacher, I understand how challenging it can be for parents to plan and deliver creative, structured art lessons at home. That’s where I come in—to take the stress and hassle off your shoulders, giving your child a high-quality, engaging art education without all the guesswork.
My lessons are not just random tutorials or quick projects. Each one is thoughtfully crafted to focus on the essential elements of art, such as line, tone, shape, and texture, and connects to artistic movements, styles, and renowned artists. Your child will explore mediums like drawing, painting, sculpture, and textiles, with projects designed to develop both their technical skills and creative voice. I want them to think like artists—be curious, confident, and ready to experiment.
What makes Arts Instruct different?
Unlike other online programs that may only offer surface-level craft activities, Arts Instruct dives deeper. Every month, students embark on a new project centered on a creative theme or artistic movement. They aren’t just learning techniques; they’re learning how to express ideas, interpret the world around them, and tell stories through art.
The course is flexible as each project is recorded and split into bite sized demos. This means your child can engage in lessons when it suits them and you. The projects are in depth and have been planned to be split over a few sessions with a minimum of at least 2 hours creative time. Each project also comes with at least 5 extension activities so your whole month can be covered with content. I have put a lot of thought and effort into my online learning platform. Each project consists of demo videos for each step of the process, printable instructions, a printable success criteria and how to self evaluate. To celebrate your child’s success, I will then invite them to share their pieces at my online art gallery. I can also provide personalised feedback, guiding each student to refine their work while encouraging their individual creativity.
I believe that nurturing creativity is essential to a child’s overall development. Arts Instruct isn’t just about art skills—it’s about building confidence, encouraging independent thinking, and fostering a love for the creative process. I’m passionate about helping children discover their potential through a structured yet supportive environment. My values as an art teacher are this: we are all creative, but we’re not all amazing at drawing and this should never be the barrier to enjoying art. I love teaching students how to be creative and to think outside the box. Art teaches confidence, creativity and resilience and this is what me and my program are about.
Parents who join my program often share how relieved they feel, knowing that their child is receiving expert guidance without the burden of constantly designing art lessons themselves. By choosing Arts Instruct, you can provide your child with a comprehensive, enjoyable art education that nurtures their passion while simplifying your role in their learning journey.
Join me today, and watch your young artist thrive in a community that celebrates creativity!
