Home Education Creative Club
A creative programme for home-educated children and young people who love art, design, making and exploring new ideas.

The Home Education Creative Club brings together free live creative sessions, practical art classes, short courses, portfolio development and optional accredited programmes.

The aim is simple: to give home-educated young people access to creative opportunities that feel inspiring, practical and flexible.

Throughout the year, learners can take part in activities such as:

Painting and mixed media
Drawing and illustration
Collage and experimental art
Fashion design
Printmaking
Sculpture and 3D projects
Artist and art-history studies
Sketchbook and portfolio development
Design projects
Seasonal workshops
Creative challenges
Arts Award programmes
Selected CREST Award projects
Projects and courses change regularly, so there is always something new to explore.

FREE Weekly Live Art Sessions
Families can also join our free online live creative sessions, open to home-educated learners.

These sessions are a chance to create along with us from home, try different art techniques and get a feel for the Creative Studio community before joining a longer course.

Regular free sessions include:

Ages 5–8
Weekly creative art sessions with fun, achievable projects using drawing, painting, collage and mixed media.

Ages 8+
Longer creative sessions exploring more detailed projects, techniques and artistic ideas.

Projects change every week and may include animals, landscapes, mixed-media art, illustration, painting, collage and seasonal themes.

Free sessions are live and online, with simple materials wherever possible.

Art History & Modern Masters
Learners can discover artists who helped shape the modern art world, explore their stories and techniques, and then create their own artwork inspired by them.

Artists may include Monet, Van Gogh, Georgia O’Keeffe, Matisse, Klimt, Warhol, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Hockney, Kusama, Basquiat and many more.

The emphasis is on understanding what made each artist distinctive and experimenting with their techniques rather than simply copying a painting.

Creative 6-Week Courses
Focused short courses allow learners to explore one creative subject in more depth without committing to a full academic year.

Courses may include:

Fashion Design
Fashion illustration, mood boards, colour, fabrics, design development and creating a personal mini collection.

Art History
Study a different artist each week, explore their techniques and create an original artwork inspired by their work.

Portfolio Development
Develop a stronger body of artwork, experiment with new techniques and build confidence in presenting and discussing creative work.

Creative Science
Selected programmes combine art, design and practical investigation, including CREST Award opportunities.

New themes and courses are introduced throughout the year.

Arts Award
Creative Studio is an Arts Award centre, giving young people opportunities to work towards recognised creative qualifications.

Arts Award courses may include areas such as:

Fashion Design
Fine Art
Illustration
Creative Writing
Photography
Mixed Media
Learners develop practical creative skills while also exploring artists, creative careers, arts experiences and their own development.

Some programmes include an online portfolio to complete from home, supported by clear templates, tutorials and guidance alongside taught sessions.

A Creative Space for Home-Educated Young People
There is no expectation that everyone works at the same level or creates exactly the same thing.

Some learners love detailed drawing. Others prefer paint, collage, fashion, experimental work or getting thoroughly acquainted with the contents of the craft cupboard.

The Creative Club gives young people opportunities to:

develop confidence in their creativity
learn genuine art and design techniques
experiment with new materials
develop independent ideas
meet other home-educated young people
build a portfolio of creative work
discover artists and creative careers
work towards qualifications where appropriate
Learners do not need to consider themselves “good at art” to take part.

Regular Classes, Courses & Online Learning
Creative Studio offers a mixture of:

Free weekly online live art sessions
