With strong connections to leading transport and engineering companies, such as Cubic, Hitachi Rail, Sopra Steria, talent and Transport for London, we provide an authentic experience for STEM exploration and learning. With opportunities to connect with industry professionals, undertake genuine engineering challenges, and gain insight into the world of work at major UK engineering and transport organisations.

Inspire Engineering Day at Acton Depot

Wednesday 5 March – Friday 14 March 2025
Wednesday 11 June – Friday 20 June 2025
Duration: 10:30 – 14:45
Location: London Transport Museum Depot in Acton
Cost: £150 per 30 pupils (we can accommodate up to two groups of 30 pupils per day)

A chance to see behind the scenes at a working transport Depot!

Let our skilled facilitators inspire your pupils with enquiry-based activities. The day begins with an interactive introduction followed by:

Depot Exploration: Pupils will have the chance to interact with some of the unique wonders of our iconic collections and hear the story of how engineers have transformed London over time
Q&A session with STEM Ambassadors (industry professionals)
‘Sustainable Cities’: Pupils will work together to design a net zero city and tackle contemporary challenges faced by engineers and urban planners
Through the workshop pupils will:

Develop and demystify their understanding of what engineering is;
Enhance their team-working, problem solving, and communication skills;
Experience positive perceptions of careers in transport and engineering;
Gain practical insight into careers in engineering at Transport for London (TfL) and other major UK organisations.
Pupils will receive a CREST Discovery Award from the British Association for their participation in the day, providing a concrete which can accreditation be included in their Apprenticeship and job applications.
