Product Description
My free, live-streamed English lessons are designed especially for home educating families. Each half term has a different theme. The English learning – including reading, writing, storytelling, grammar and vocabulary – is woven into the theme and there is always a choice of activities so that all children, from reluctant writers to aspiring novelists, can join in.
This half term the theme is Nature’s Secrets. Over the course of five sessions, learners will start a nature journal, make their own observations of the natural world, and learn how to turn their ideas into a magazine article. At the end of the series, each learner can submit one article to be included in a collaborative digital magazine.
Meetings are on Facebook and YouTube at 2pm on Tuesdays, repeated at 10am on Wednesdays. The sessions are 50 minutes to one hour in length. If you can’t make the live time, you can watch the recording on YouTube afterwards – this is a good option for any learners who might benefit from pausing to take a break from time to time.
There’s also a free book club running alongside these lessons. We’re discussing The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Book Club is at 1:30 on Thursdays and also available as a recording afterwards.
To join, search for Home Made Words on Facebook or YouTube to find my account.
These sessions are free for everyone to attend, and come with a free print-out and optional follow-up activities. Home Made Words is supported by families who find the lessons helpful and choose to sign up to support me on Ko-fi for £5-£8 a MONTH. There’s also a VIP support option that includes a monthly coaching call with the parent or educator – this tier is £30 a month.
