Just to let you know more about my group.
Let’s Educate Kids Home Ed Group is run solely by myself, Sumaiya Al-Amoodi.
I’m a former primary school teacher turned home educator and am DBS checked.
I started this over 5 years ago to help benefit my 2 children and the home ed community.
I tend to base our learning through secular topics. Our last topic was on Electricity – Circuits. If you follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/letseducatekids/ you can see the work we’ve accomplished in my highlights Insha’Allah / God willing.
If possible, I try and arrange an outing/trip/workshop once a term relating to our topic. This does not always happen and depends on availability/accessibility/suitability and the finances.
Age group
The group is aimed at 8-11 years olds but 1 years difference here or there is acceptable all based on whether you feel your child is able to follow along.
Approach
This is a faith based group but all mothers and children welcome. As I previously mentioned, it is based on secular topics or unit studies with a very hands-on feel as much as possible. The actual learning will take about 45mins to 1hr. After that, the children have the opportunity to eat their lunch in the gardens or inside. The gardens is a lovely space for kids to play and climb. They also have a mud kitchen! If there are any mother’s staying, then you’re more than welcome to join me for a cup of tea and possible biscuits, where we can chat and socialise with other like minded mothers.
Location & Time
Every Monday during term time.
We start at 11:30am-1:30pm but I do ask everyone to come about 5/10mins before to have time to settle in.
We are based at Lighthouse & Gardens, 38 Celebration Ave, East Village, London E20 1DB.
Fees
£12 for 2 hours per child and sibling discount available. If applicable to you, please contact myself for further details. On the odd occasion there maybe a request for a small contribution if we attend a trip that exceeds our budget. However, this will be discussed with all mothers beforehand.
Payment needs to be made as a block booking. I cannot accept PAYG as the rent and resources all need to be paid upfront. However, contact me if you feel you will struggle but would still like your child to join so we can work things out.
Once payment is made, I cannot refund payments unless I need to cancel a session for any reason.
Parking
There are no parking facilities at the centre. However, I can supply a visitor’s parking permit which is about a 10min walk away. However , depending on your type of car the cost could be from £1.50 to £2.50 per car. Please request this when you register your child. There is also Westfield’s carpark which is right next door.

Term Time
Each term will be either 6/7 weeks long.
There will be a break for Ramadhan Insha’Allah and all Eids alongside the usual holidays Insha’Allah / God willing🌹
